On June 1 to 3, EDC will facilitate and host a national meeting of 300 National Science Foundation (NSF) Discovery Research K-12 program awardees, as part of our work leading the Community for Advancing Discovery Research in Education (CADRE) network for NSF. Featuring presentations by NSF staff including Joan Ferrini-Mundy (Assistant Director of the NSF Directorate for Education and Human Resources), Nancy Shapiro (University System of Maryland), Linda Chen (Baltimore City Public Schools), and Jack Smith (Maryland State Department of Education), the theme of this year's meeting is "Making an Impact." Many EDC researchers will present sessions and posters, including Amy Brodesky, Pam Buffington, Amy Busey, Jim Diamond, Mark Driscoll, Marion Goldstein, Mary Beth Piecham, and Sarah Sword (view the meeting agenda). Although the meeting itself is invitation-only, CADRE encourages the public to visit the meeting's Virtual Poster Hall, starting May 23—when posters will start to be uploaded—and during and after the meeting. The public can also explore a rich array of materials from past meetings.
