Endangered Language Workshop

Date:

Friday, October 14, 2016
10/13 and 10/14: Washington, DC

On October 13 and 14, EDC researcher Ruth Rouvier will lead an invitation-only National Science Foundation-funded workshop that will engage experts in language acquisition, early childhood development, linguistics, statistics, and public health in examining the impact of endangered language documentation on young children. Hosted by EDC, the event, "Documentation and Child Learners: A Workshop to Examine the Broader Impacts of Endangered Language Documentation," will focus on the role that documentary materials—grammars, dictionary, and linguistically analyzed natural discourse—can play in supporting young children's learning and long-term academic success.
