Deborah Schifter is collaborating with colleagues at TERC—a Cambridge, MA-based organization focused on improving mathematics and science education—to update the Investigations in Number, Data, and Space (Investigations) K–5 mathematics curriculum. Published by Pearson, Investigations is designed to help all children understand fundamental ideas of number and operations, geometry, data, measurement, and early algebra. Schifter played a lead role in developing the K–2 2nd Edition of the curriculum, with a special focus on early algebra. “In Investigations 3.0,” she notes, “we will revise the curriculum to more closely align it with the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics, including explaining and highlighting examples of the Standards for Mathematical Practice."
