EDC and lead partner Westat have been awarded a contract to provide technical assistance to U.S. Department of Education Investing in Innovation (i3) grantees. The i3 program supports the expansion of innovative practices designed to improve student improvement. In November, the U.S. Department of Education announced the 20 highest rated 2012 i3 applications. Selected from 727 applications, the 20 potential grantees must secure matching funds by December 7 to receive funding.
Over the next five years, the EDC team will work directly with i3 grantees to identify and address their needs, build cross-site communities of practice focused on shared issues, and develop tools and materials to help ensure their success. Led by Principal Investigator Rebecca Carey, a large team of EDC specialists will provide TA to grantees. Nicole Breslow, Jackie Bourassa, and Heidi Larson will serve as TA Liaisons. Louisa Anastasopoulos, Julie Hirschler, Tony Streit, and Jill Weber will serve as TA Experts who will be called upon to address grantees’ content-focused requests for support.
