EDC Assisting Brigham with Informal Science Programming

Middle school student

EDC is providing technical assistance to Brigham and Women’s Hospital Center for Community Health and Health Equity, which is working on a strategy to support informal learning programs for middle school students interested in science. The Center wants to encourage students to pursue its high school and college programs and inspire students to work in the health field.

To advance the Center’s planning and program design efforts, EDC's Abigail Levy is providing research summaries on models of science programming (especially with a health-related focus) provided by non-school institutions that target middle school students, student outcomes targeted by these programs, and best practices associated with achieving desired student outcomes.

Levy has briefed several groups on her findings and will continue to provide additional briefings within the Partners Healthcare system.
