In its May/June issue, Exchange magazine announced that it has selected EDC Senior Training and Technical Assistance Associate Karen Cairone (shown at left) as one of its 2015 Exceptional Emerging Leaders in the field of early childhood education. The movement to identify emerging leaders is part of Exchange's newly-launched Leadership Initiative.
An expert in child and adult mental health, Cairone developed materials and provided training and technical assistance for the Head Start National Center on Program Management and Fiscal Operations. She is the author of numerous articles, books, and videos that focus on social and emotional development and reslience, including Fostering Resilience: Teaching Social and Emotional Skills, featured in the July 2014 edition of Young Children; Promoting Resilience in Preschoolers: A Strategy Guide for Early Childhood Professionals (2012); and Socially Strong and Emotionally Secure: 50 Activities to Promote Resilience (2011).
