A program in the Learning and Teaching Division has won the prestigious Online Learning Innovator Award, given by the International Association for K–12 Online Learning (iNACOL). The award recognizes EdTech Leaders Online’s (ETLO) “outstanding and innovative online learning practice” through the e-Learning for Educators program, a 10-state consortium funded by the U.S. Department of Education through Alabama Public Television.
iNACOL praised ETLO for its planning and delivery of instructional and professional development. Recipients of the Innovator Award “are building new school models in K–12 education with tremendous promise for transforming education for students,” said Susan Patrick, iNACOL’s President and CEO. The award was presented at iNACOL’s Virtual School Symposium in Glendale, Arizona on November 14. iNACOL Online Learning Innovator Awards recognize innovative learning practices, new research and individual achievements in the field.
Now in its second decade, ETLO provides a capacity-building online program for departments of education, regional service centers, teacher training institutions and other educational organizations in 35 states, enabling them to provide graduate-level training courses for online instructors and course designers and effective online learning programs for teachers, administrators and students. ETLO programs include graduate-level training courses for instructors and course designers, and a catalog of online workshops focused on specific subject areas and grade levels.
