Ford PAS Curriculum Has Timely UN Tie-In

In mid-September, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton announced the creation of the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves, a partnership led by the United Nations Foundation, which focuses on creating a thriving global market for clean and efficient household solutions. A new Ford Partnership for Advanced Studies (Ford PAS) curriculum “Working Toward Sustainability” offers teachers and students a six-week-long module, “Energy from the Sun: Biomass,” in which high school students take on the roles of staff members in a nongovernmental organization consulting for a developing country that is trying to promote the use of biomass-fueled stoves among its citizens.
