Two New EDC Books to Launch at NCTM/NCSM 2016

Mathematical Thinking and Communication Access for English Learners

On April 11 to 16, two new books by EDC mathematics education experts will debut at the National Council of Supervisors of Mathematics (NCSM) and National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) annual conferences in San Francisco, California. NCSM participants are invited to visit Heinemann’s Booth #309 to get a sneak preview of EDC's new book Mathematical Thinking and Communication: Access for English Learners, co-authored by Mark Driscoll, Johannah Nikula, and Jill Neumayer DePiper. At NCTM, participants will be able to purchase copies of Mathematical Thinking and Communication at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt/Heinemann’s Booth #316.

To learn about Building A System of Tens, the first module in the Developing Mathematical Ideas professional development series co-authored by Deborah Schifter and published by NCTM, visit the Bookstore in the NCTM Exhibit Hall and attend the NCTM session “First Split into Tens and Ones."

This year's NCTM, NCTM Research, and NCSM conferences will feature presentations by 14 EDC instructional designers, researchers, and professional developers on topics such as supporting English learners, the CCSSM Standards for Mathematical Practice, using technology to promote young children's math learning, and the "mathematics of game shows."
