AIR, CAST, and EDC developed this interactive professional learning environment that builds the capacity of teachersand leaders to use evidence-based practices, universal design for learning (UDL) principles, and technology to improve student engagement, motivation, and outcomes in mathematics and English language arts. The toolkit has a special focus on supporting educators in helping students—especially struggling students and those with disabilities—meet the Common Core State Standards. In addition to extensive resources for leadership teams, the toolkit offers in-depth information about the following evidence-based English language arts and mathematics instructional strategies:

  • English language arts: Conducting Research, Context Clues, Drafting, Fluency, Presenting, Prewriting, Reviewing, Self-Questioning, Semantic Mapping, Summarizing, Visualizing, Word Analysis
  • Mathematics: Interacting with Peers, Math Language, Modeling, Organizing, Supporting Science, Thinking Aloud, Understanding Problems, Visual Representations
