A grant from Ford Motor Company Fund is enabling Ilene Kantrov (at left), Leslie Hergert, and Jessica Juliuson to continue their work on the Ford Next Generation Learning (NGL) Initiative in Nashville, Tennessee and NGL communities nationwide. Kantrov says, “Over the past 12 years, since we began to collaborate with Ford, Ford NGL has evolved from an innovative curriculum (Ford PAS) to an entire community education transformation initiative. Ford NGL has built a national network of communities and we play key roles in strategic planning and development of resources to support and expand the network.”
In 2013, Kantrov, Hergert, and Juliuson will work as part of the Ford NGL National Team to support high-quality implementation of three Ford NGL strands: Transforming Teaching and Learning, Transforming the High School Experience, and Transforming Business and Civic Engagement. Their support will include professional development and coaching for teachers focused on integrating rigorous academic and career education—including helping students develop key workforce skills such as problem-solving, critical thinking, teamwork, and communication—and work with school teams to facilitate change.
