EDC has received two grants that will significantly accelerate its efforts to build educators’ and leaders’ capacity to use tablets and other mobile devices as powerful tools for teaching and learning. A grant from Kajeet, a telecommunications company focused on the student/school market, will enable EDC's EdTech Leaders Online (ETLO) program to develop an online course on Making the Most of Mobiles for Teaching and Learning. ETLO will deliver the course to approximately 150 teachers in the Chicago and Fairfax County Public Schools in a pilot project this spring and train educators from these districts to continue delivering this course to additional colleagues in their districts.
A new grant from Qualcomm will enable ETLO to deliver an online course, Leading Schools in a Web 2.0 World, to a group of Boston Public Schools (BPS) principals. Designed for access on a mobile device or computer, Leading Schools in a Web 2.0 World will enable busy principals to participate anytime, anyplace as they collaborate with colleagues to explore the power and potential of digital and mobile learning for themselves and their students. The course will advance the district’s digital literacy goals and enable BPS principals to develop key digital leadership skills.
