Opportunities and Challenges in Secondary CTE

Full Description:

This white paper draws upon the results of a survey of 850 career and technical education (CTE) educators nationwide, 11 interviews with CTE state leaders, and recent literature to provide a panoramic view of CTE's strengths, needs, and possibilities. The first in a series (read the second paper in the series here), "Opportunities and Challenges in Secondary Career and Technical Education" focuses on two broad themes of importance in the CTE field, issues that are illustrated with findings from the survey and interviews: the increased interest in career preparation that is fueling exciting opportunities for growth in CTE; and the need to strengthen partnerships among secondary CTE programs, postsecondary institutions, and industry.
